iHola Honduras!

The last two weeks of my life were spent on a mission trip with the Seventh Day Adventist Reform Movement Church to help with the construction of several church buildings. There were around twenty young people all together and the group was split in half when we arrived in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, in order to work in two locations. Half the group traveled to Siguatepeque and the others to the city of Tocoa. My group was located in Tocoa, which is around 40 minutes from the Caribbean Sea. We helped dirt pack a dormitory building and an auditorium, cement the floors, wall a septic tank, build a roof, and enable lighting. It was my first mission trip and I realized that you can ALWAYS make a difference.

Freebording

Wow, its been a while since my last post! No one probably reads this, but just in case someone stumbles upon this...I wanted to spread the word about a new sport in its early stages. Known as freebording, it's the closest thing to snowboarding on the streets. Snowboarding is my favorite sport, so finding out that there was a board to imitate the exact motions a snowboard gives you was awesome! I just bought mine off ebay from a previous user, but I practice all the time and am getting better every day. But to all those considering the sport, get on it, because the payoff is worth the pain (only if you demonstrate gravity haha) and patience. The last picture is from snowboarding last season at Alpine Meadows which overlooks Lake Tahoe and the other two are learning the ropes of freebording.

Snow in Sacramento!

I really can't believe my eyes right now! I woke up at 5 o'clock and looked out on my balcony to find the entire house and surroundings covered in frosting! I live about half an hour from Sacramento and the entire valley has snow! For all you Californians...you probably know it hasn't snowed here since 2002! I've been frolicking in the powder all day, having snowball fights with my brother, making snow angels, and yes, even a snowman! The neighbors are sledding down their driveways! The view is spectacular and the snow is caked on the roof making the house look like a gingerbread house. I am in a winter wonderland! Its a wonderful surprise to have in the midst of finals approaching!

Black Friday Mania

Hopefully everyone was civil today and no blood was shed over material items in the stores today! We all know what happened last year at Wal-Mart...on a more positive note the stores are starting to get decked out will holly jolly Christmas decorations that make me feel all warm inside. Here is a collage containing some of the clothing pieces that yearn to enlist in my personal closet...

The Havana Sweatercoat on the top left can be found at Anthropologie and it is super warm and comfy. The village scene imprinted on it is so lovely. [$198]
The emerald snow green dress in the center is also from Anthropologie and is reminiscent of Grace Kelly's everlasting style...its so feminine [$288].
The black boots are from Guess by Marciano and are replica's of Balmain's divine Buckle-embellished suede boots that are a costly $1605...more expensive than my plane ticket to Australia! Luckily for poor souls like me who do not have money growing on trees they can be found for a more reasonable price and are an attractive grey color as well [$288].
